In Manhattan with a visa problem

Not a problem with my Chinese visa application which went in this morning; not with my Russian one which is frozen until the start of August; the problem is with my US visa. According to the lawyer, the immigration service is currently processing green card cases received before October 19th, 2010. My case was received four days before that, so it should be in the current batch, but who knows how large a batch is or long that takes. Oh, and we can't ask for a status update, because you're only allowed do that once every 90 days.

What we do know is that the USCIS will give around four weeks notice that I'll be expected to present myself at a dingy office in New York for an interview. I haven't had any notice yet. If I haven't heard anything from them in 16 days, I officially have a problem.

44 days. I'm sure it will be fine.
